Spring Birding Along the North Reservoir, Winchester
Monday, April 26, 8:00 - 10:00 am
(Rain Date, Wednesday, April 28)
Leader: Julia Osborne
We will walk along the trails on the west side of the North Reservoir, looking for early spring migrants, such as Eastern Phoebe, Hermit Thrush, Eastern Towhee, and Yellow-rumped, Palm, and Pine Warblers. We’ll also keep an eye out for resident species such as Red-breasted and White-breasted Nuthatches and Pileated Woodpeckers. We may spy Wood Ducks, Buffleheads, and Hooded Mergansers on the reservoir. We'll pay particular attention to the habitats and plant communities that attract the various kinds of birds.
This walk is appropriate for beginning birders. Please bring binoculars if you have them.
Meet at the north end of the North Reservoir, across from 2 Hillcrest Pkwy. Parking is available along Reservoir Road and Appalachian Road, off Highland Avenue in Winchester. Steady rain cancels.
Please note that space is strictly limited, and pre-registration will be required for all of our fall group events (no on-site registrations will be permitted).
IMPORTANT: PLEASE DO NOT BE A NO-SHOW!!! Our free offerings are frequently waitlisted, so if you cannot attend, PLEASE CONTACT US so we can give your spot to another person who wants to participate.
