Mid-Spring Birding and Nature Walk along the North Reservoir with Winchester Trails

Monday, May 17, 8:00 am - 10:00 am

North Reservoir, Hillcrest Pkwy & Appalachian Rd. Intersection, Winchester

Leaders:  Julia Osborne, Tinie Noordzij, Winchester Trails Guides

We will walk along the trails on the west side of the North Reservoir, looking for returning migrant birds, such as warblers, orioles, and towhees. We’ll also keep an eye out for resident species such as red-breasted and white-breasted nuthatches and pileated woodpeckers. We'll pay particular attention to the habitats and plant communities that attract the various kinds of birds.

This walk is appropriate for beginning birders. Please bring binoculars if you have them.

We’ll meet at the north end of the North Reservoir, next to the tennis courts across from 15 Appalachian Road. Parking is available along Hillcrest and Appalachian Roads, off Highland Avenue in Winchester. Steady rain or stormy wind cancels.
